• Fostering Healthier Communities through Underwear Donations

People in families with children make up 30% of the homeless population. Income is used for shelter and food vs essentials like underwear.

  • Supporting Individuals with Disabilities

46% of impoverished people prioritize other items over buying underwear.

Clean underwear provides more than just hygiene. It gives a sense of well-being, dignity, and self-esteem.

  • Everyone Deserves Underwear

    Everyone Deserves Underwear

1.5 million children enrolled in public schools experienced some form of homelessness.

  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

We support individuals and the entire family

By providing new underwear, we offer them a fresh start and a basic necessity that restores their comfort, dignity, and self-confidence.

  • Breast Cancer Survivors

    Dignity starts wth feeling undie-neath

Medications and doctors' visits can be expensive, especially if you don't have medical insurance. You may not be able to work as much as before, so you may lose income.

Dignity starts with feeling good undie-neath.

At Undie Chest, we aim to restore dignity, foster healthier communities, and reduce our environmental impact through underwear donations.

Your in-kind and monetary donations support us in filling the gaps that underwear poverty creates. Donating underwear can bring comfort, dignity, and hope to those in need – join us in making a meaningful impact today.

  • Our Vision

At Undie Chest, we dream of a world where access to basic necessities is a given, allowing families in need to focus on essential priorities like food, shelter, and safety.

We extend our support to individuals and families experiencing homelessness, poverty, human trafficking or domestic violence survivors, breast cancer survivors, and students attending Title 1 schools.

  • Why Our Work Matters

Underwear is one of the most sought-after yet least donated items for those in need.

Millions of pounds of new or gently used underwear end up in landfills every year.

By donating underwear, we can reduce textile waste, conserve resources, and protect the environment.

  • How You Can Make A Difference

Every pair of underwear you donate contributes to our mission of alleviating hygiene poverty and restoring dignity to families in need.

Your generosity makes a tangible difference in the lives of others, providing them with a fundamental necessity and promoting their well-being.

We Accept:

  • New bras for women and girls (including sports, nursing, and mastectomy bras)

  • New panties for women and girls

  • New underwear for men and boys

  • New/gently used t-shirts for men and boys

Environmental Impact Of Your Donations

In 2023, 2,441 pounds of donations were given, which is a 75% increase from 2022. These donations helped families in need globally and also reduced greenhouse gas emissions by the equivalent of:

9.2 tons of waste recycled instead of landfill

1,006 incandescent lamps switched to LEDs

1,148 trash bags of waste recycled instead of landfilled

38,049 miles driven by average passenger

2,985 gallons of gasoline consumed

1,864,634 smartphones charged

Here’s How You Can Get Involved

The National Alliance to End Homelessness states that one of the causes of homelessness is that low-income households often do not earn enough to pay for food, clothing, transportation, and a place they can call home.

Let’s help ease their burden and restore dignity with the donation of underwear.

55% of children who did not have underwear and socks to wear wanted to skip school or refused to go to school because they were embarrassed by not having any socks or underwear to wear. (Morar Consulting)

Sending children to school without underwear profoundly impacts the parents emotionally. Parents feel embarrassed, stressed, disappointed, and insecure because they don't have adequate resources to purchase underwear for their children.

The Everyone Deserves Underwear (E.D.U) Program wants to help ease the stress on students and their families, so they can thrive in school and their personal lives.

Jessica's story highlights her challenges from a lack of underwear.

Underwear is a topic that most people feel uncomfortable discussing, especially when it comes to children who don't have enough of it to wear to school. We hope that Jessica's story will inspire you to share your story and support The Undie Chest, an organization that helps young people develop essential life skills without worrying about something as basic as underwear.
